P-029 A NOVEL USE OF FULLY ABSORBABLE PHASIXTM MESH FOR LAPAROSCOPIC INGUINAL HERNIA REPAIR

Background

An inguinal hernia is repaired usually with synthetic non-absorbable mesh resulting in collagen formation leading to chronic inflammation, and fibrosis with significant reductions in hernia recurrence. However, chronic pain may affect quality of life. The new mesh introduced to minimize complications. Poly-4-hydroxybutyrate (P4HB) mesh starts to degrade in 12–18 months. We are reporting our results of TAPP inguinal hernia repair using P4HB mesh (PhasixTM Bard in, Murray Hill, NJ).
